Gibbs’ Longest Con Lays The Groundwork For NCIS’ Most Useless Death

NCIS: Origins begins Leroy Jethro Gibbs’ longest con, which also sets up the most useless death in NCIS. Originally criticized for CBS’ supposed attempt to just milk the NCIS franchise’s continued success, the Mark Harmon-backed prequel has proven itself in a season and a half. Impressively, NCIS: Origins has managed to come up with compelling professional and personal storylines for Mike Franks’ Camp Pendleton team.

Building on the solid foundation that its debut year established, NCIS: Origins season 2 has been doing an impeccable job developing its characters. 1992 has been a busy year for Gibbs, in particular. After Lala’s near-death experience, he was reunited with Ducky and worked on a case that would eventually be solved by MCRT three decades later. In NCIS: Origins season 2’s fall finale, however, he makes another major decision when he marries Diane Sterling.
