36 Years Later, Kevin Costner’s Western “Masterpiece” Is Making a Comeback on Free Streaming

Kevin Costner’s most iconic western just landed on free streaming. It’s safe to say that Kevin Costner loves the Western genre. The actor played John Dutton in Taylor Sheridan’s hit modern western series, Yellowstone, and he self-funded, wrote, and directed his own western epic, Horizon: An American Saga — Chapter 1. While the status of Horizon — Chapter 2 remains a complete mystery to us regular movie fans, we can still enjoy one of Costner’s greatest movies, Dances With Wolves. That’s even easier than ever, because the film is streaming for free.

Dances With Wolves is currently streaming for free on Pluto TV. The movie was added to the free streaming platform on Feb. 1, alongside some other great westerns, including High Noon, Hang ‘Em High, and the 2010 remake of True Grit. Dances With Wolves is based on the novel of the same name by Michael Blake, who co-wrote the screenplay adaptation with Costner. Kevin Costner then went on to direct the movie.Released in 1990, Costner stars as Lieutenant Dunbar, who is assigned to a remote outpost during the American Civil War. After making contact with a band of Lakota Native Americans, Dunbar’s views on the occupation of the Lakotan land are forever changed. The official synopsis reads:
