Kevin Costner Sued Over Horizon Costumes
Somewhere beyond the horizon, there’s a lawsuit. Kevin Costner is being sued for unpaid costume rentals on his movie Horizon: An American Saga — Chapter 2, per The Hollywood Reporter. Western Costume, a costuming company that worked on productions like The Prestige, Mad Men, and 12 Years a Slave, is seeking over $400,000 from Costner and his producers. The lawsuit was filed in the Los Angeles Superior Court on December 22, and Costner has yet to publicly respond.

Western Costume is alleging $134,256.82 in unpaid costume-rental fees along with $150,000 in economic damages, including for mangled costumes, per People. Those fees are combined with $40,000 in interest and $100,000 in requested punitive damages, totaling about $424,000. The company is additionally seeking $200,000 in attorney fees. This lawsuit comes amid an already troubled non-release for Horizon’s second chapter. The first two movies in Costner’s planned four-film series were made for a total of $100 million. The expensive project was met with only $34 million at the box office after its June 2024 release. The second film was intended to be released the same year as Chapter 1 but was delayed indefinitely after its predecessor’s box-office failure. In September 2024, Costner told the Venice International Film Festival, “I don’t know how I’m gonna make 3 right now, but I’m gonna make it.” Well, not with Western Costume’s help.
